Q. How many songwriters does it take to change a lightbulb?
A. One. Because you can be damn sure no one else is ever going to offer to help you.

Not everyone can write a song. There are brazillions of instrumentalists and all of them have one thing in common…..they need a great song. This is where you come in. Here are a few not very serious ideas regarding songwriting.

1. Love is the number one topic for songs that make money. Be sure to blur the lines between lust, money and love. This keeps the general public confused and will ensure the greatest possible chance for success.

2. If you’re going to be a political writer don’t join a political party at the end of your musical career and compromise on all the issues you used to be so adamant about.

3. Comedy is great but to be used sparingly.

4. Heartache is not a pre requisite but it usually helps.

If you want your song to be appreciated you better record a great version of it and play it to as many people as you can. Here are some songs we love from the last few years.

This track by Lyrebird is called ‘Saturday Night’. Recorded, mixed and produced by Pete Doherty at Goose.

Taos is a Sydney based songwriter. The album has had airplay and was recorded over a year at Goose by Pete Doherty. Co-Produced by Pete and Taos.
